State-Of-The-Art Tools For Top Tier Treatment
We pride ourselves on offering only the best in treatment for the families that we work with. To provide you and your family with the comfortable, high-quality dental treatment you deserve, we not only have put together a staff that is comprised of friendly and experienced dental professionals, but we have also filled our local Venice, FL office with state-of-the-art dental technology. Even beyond the dentist’s chair, we utilize paperless procedures and the latest commercial security software to ensure that all of your records are safe and protected.
Below you can find more information about some of the advanced equipment that we use when helping patients just like you achieve healthier, brighter smiles.
Digital Radiography (Digital X-rays)
One of the most important tools that your dentist uses during treatment is a map of your mouth, which is why our office uses digital radiography, a special type of X-ray, to create high-quality images of your mouth. Once we get these images, we can enhance them by projecting them onto a monitor, which our doctors can examine closely to identify and diagnose any possible dental problems.
How are digital X-rays different than traditional X-rays?
Digital X-rays are faster, more comfortable, and more precise than traditional X-rays, improving the process for both the patient and your dentist. To take a digital X-ray, we use a small sensor that is placed in your mouth to pick up on a tiny amount of radiation, which is actually up to 90% less than a traditional X-ray. Immediately, your dentist will be able to pull that image up on a chairside monitor, move it around, magnify it, or highlight certain areas in different colors to show you anything they find.
Panoramic Imaging
Our panoramic imaging technology is another tool that helps us create a detailed map of your mouth, specifically a 270 degree map of it from one side to the other. While X-rays can peer into the bone and highlight any decay, a panoramic shot will allow Dr. Holbrook or Dr. Horak to examine and evaluate the relationship between your teeth, jaws, and the supporting structures of your mouth and face. These are especially helpful for patients who may benefit from a dental implant, or other restorative or cosmetic dental treatments.
Intraoral Cameras
If you’ve ever wished you could see what your dentist sees when looking in your mouth, this next piece of dental technology is just for you. Intraoral camera - a pen-sized wand with a camera right at the tip. Your dentist will use the wand to take pictures of your mouth, which will then be transferred directly onto a screen that you can view from your dental chair. Instead of a black and white X-ray, you’ll get to see any problem areas just the way they are in your mouth, just the way the dentist sees it. We typically use this tool to walk our patients through the diagnosis, showing them the issue and establishing an understanding of what’s wrong and how we’re going to fix it. While we work with our patients creating a treatment plan, we can continue to use those images to show what treatment will entail.
